Tips For Living a Happy Healthy Life

For women in 2013, things are completely different than the way they were 20, 30, 40 or 50 years ago. Today’s women don’t devote their life to their husbands and wait for them to tell them when to cook for dinner or when to clean to the house. Today’s women aren’t all stay at home moms that expect the husband to bring home all the money. They are out there working at least 40 hours a week, providing more to the household than ever before. With all that, a lot of women are suffering from stress because they are doing more. Financial issues, health problems and unemployment concerns bring upon stress, but while it seems like an uphill battle, there are things you can do to ensure you live a happy and healthy life.

Eat Healthy

One of the best and easiest ways to make yourself feel better is to eat healthy. You may want to eat a couple pieces of cheesecake if you’re having a bad day, but that will only make you feel worse later on. Women should be eating a good mixture of healthy food items to help give them energy and to prevent illness. You should enjoy iron-rich foods and foods that will help you reach your daily calcium number

Do What You Love

This is a simple one. If you enjoy playing tennis with your girlfriends, do it. If you enjoy baking desserts with your children or grandchildren, do it. If you like to play slowpitch softball with your friends, do it. No matter what it is you enjoy, whether it be traveling, vineyard hopping or playing touch football, the more things you do that are enjoyable to you and seem less like work, the happier you will be.


Exercising at least 30-45 minutes at least five days a week is the best way to go for you to maintain a healthy lifestyle. If you are having a bad day, week or month, working out is a great stress reliever. It doesn’t matter if you are simply running on the treadmill for 45 minutes or doing heavy weight lifting, as long as you are exercising, it will help you feel healthier and become healthier.

Get Plenty of Sleep

Sleep is an underrated activity for some and an overrated activity for others. Some people feel that they need their eight hours of sleep each night to be able to function properly. This could inhibit your ability to have a life outside of work, but that is something you might be willing to deal with. For others, you may be able to function on just four hours of sleep. In the long run, this may become an issue for you and lead to more stress. To prevent this from happening, you should figure out exactly how much sleep you need to not only function, but be able to work the way you need to get through your day positively.

Be Happy With Who You Are

A big problem with the media today is that everyone cares so much about the appearance of the people they watch on television and see on the big screen that if you don’t wear the same size dress, something is wrong with you. When the media went crazy about Kim Kardashian and her “cankles” while she was pregnant, that could have made thousands of women around the United States feel self-conscious about their own appearance. When an actress that was skinny suddenly gained 40 pounds and was called fat, it likely had to affect more women that were bigger than their favorite celebrity. Looking like a celebrity seems like something that everyone wishes for, but it isn’t the case. Instead of striving to have a body like Jennifer Aniston, you need to be happy with who you are. If you have a family that cares about you and great friends, who cares what you look like. Be happy with who you are, no matter what.

Do Things With Your Loved Ones

It is those same friends and family that helped you become who you are today that you need to spend your time with. It is the people that care for the same things you do that you need to make sure you are around. Whatever you and your friends did before you were married or in a committed relationship are the same things you need to make time in your busy schedule for.

See the World

For some people, traveling isn’t the most important thing on a bucket list, but the more you see, the better off you will be. There are so many unique cultures out there for you to learn from and whether you ever expected to visit China or Panama, the more different experiences you take part in, the more cultured you will become and the more meaning your life can take on.

Living a happy and healthy life isn’t as hard as women make it out to be. You need to find the right blend of exercise, traveling and relaxing to make your life work and function easier. When you find that right mixture, you will be better off.
